If you have been tying to make money using the internet then you have undoubtedly heard of joint ventures. However most people have never heard of using joint ventures with twitter. So today I am going to show you how to get a joint venture using twitter.

The first thing you want to do is have a product or webpage you want to promote. This can either be your own product or an affiliate link, I hope however if you decide to promote a webpage or blog it is your own.

Next find some people in your niche with a decent amount of followers. Then over the next couple of weeks, get to know them, and let them get to know you. How do you do this? Simply hold conversations on Twitter. Once you feel you have developed some rapport with them, then you can start mentioning joint ventures.

So how exactly does a joint venture go down using Twitter? It’s really simple. Once have your product and the person you want to have the joint venture with, you simply create a custom link that you can track the stats to, and split the profits in a given amount of time.

Here is an step by step example:

  1. Find your product
  2. Find the person or people you want to have a joint venture with
  3. Create rapport with them over a 2 – 3 week period
  4. Mention to them you would like to do a joint venture with them
  5. Decide on what percentage of profits both of you will receive’
  6. Create a custom tracked link for each person you will be joint venturing with (bit.ly)
  7. Decide on the length of time the joint venture will be for
  8. Provide them with a series of Tweets to send, giving them exact details as to what tweets get sent at what times and on what days.

Thats it! Don’t expect to make a ton of money from one or two joint ventures, but if you can get several people on board then you can start to make a considerable amount of money. The more successful your joint ventures are the more likely the same people would like to joint venture with you again in the future.

I am currently looking for a joint venture for a fairly new product on the market. You can make as much as $107 per sale which is 50% of the  commissions. I will be providing the tweets to send, and when to send them. I would like this joint venture to last 7 days. Once the 7 days has ended I will give an 4 extra days for any other sales to come through using your link, so that you get maximum commissions from it. If you are interested in getting involved in this joint venture, there are no requirements as far as how many followers you have. This is just a way to make some after holiday money. If you are interested in this joint venture leave me a comment or send me a message using the contact page.

affiliate_sales_with_twitterSo you are wanting to use Twitter to boost your affiliate sales? Good because along with being an excellent marketing channel and traffic generation tool, Twitter is wonderful for generating affiliate commissions.

You have to be careful when using Twitter to generate affiliate commissions. The reason is because if you don’t do it correctly then you end up getting flagged for spam, and having your Twitter account being hit with the Twitter slap. Very similar to the Google slap, the Twitter slap is when Twitter sees you as a spammer, and either suspends or deletes your Twitter account.

So how do you tweet in order to make affiliate sales but not look like a spammer? It’s simple, provide quality content with your Twitter feed along with mixing in some affiliate links. The cool thing about Twitter, is that if you hate writing content, you don’t have to. All you have to do is direct your followers in the direction where they can find the kind of content that interests them.

An easy way to do this, is to bookmark some sites that are updated pretty regularly, preferably more than once a day and tweet some posts or articles related to your niche several times a day. Then about once every 10 tweets include your affiliate link. It can be a link to an amazon product, clickbank product or even your own product.

Try to send at least 10 tweets everyday, use a scheduling tool to help manage your time on Twitter. Here is a post I wrote about using my favorite Twitter tool, Using Hootsuite to Manage Your Time on Twitter.

Here is a good schedule to follow for tweeting 10 times a day:

  • Interesting niche related quote
  • Post or webpage related to your niche
  • Affiliate link
  • Blog post related to your niche
  • Niche related video
  • Niche related blog post
  • Retweet a guru in your niche
  • Retweet a follower
  • Blog post related to your niche
  • Connect a follower to either another follower or a guru in your niche

Tweet that exact formula everyday, mix the order up a little everyday, and feel free to add more tweets if you want. Just remember if you are sending 20 tweets per day, then you get to tweet your affiliate link twice a day. Try and focus on one affiliate product for at least a month. That gives your followers plenty of time to see your affiliate link, they get to see it several times, which gives you a higher chance of making the sale.

Profit from Twitter

I have got a lot of people in the last couple of weeks giving me their opinions on Twitter and making money with Twitter. There seems to be a lot of misconception when people first hear about earning money from Twitter. A lot of people feel if you attempt to make money with twitter that you are spamming people.

Well my opinion about making money on Twitter is that it is completely ok and ethical if done correctly. I certainly do not believe in creating Twitter accounts, and only sending out affiliate links. To me that is definitely spam. However if you tweet some interesting information, news, videos and blog posts, then I see nothing wrong with throwing in an affiliate link every now and then. I do it, my mentors do it, a lot of people do it. Again there is nothing wrong with wanting to earn some money with Twitter.

I just wanted to set the record straight as far as how I feel about making a living on Twitter. I do not believe in creating a bunch of spam filled Twitter accounts. But once again, if you have a twitter account, and all you do is tweet niche related news, that is cool, just throw in a couple affiliate links. It is better if you tweet your own stuff along with niche related news. If you follow my tweets at all you will see that I send news, videos and blog posts related usually too social media, but I will also tweet my blog posts which are related to Twitter. Then you will notice a few links that take you to opt in pages, guess what those are affiliate links. I am not ashamed to admit it, heck most of you probably already knew it.

So when it comes to making money with Twitter, as long as it is done in an ethical manner, I see no reason not to proceed with it. What are your opinions about making money with Twitter?

How to Follow More People on Twitter Faster

follow_fasterOnce you get into Twitter a bit, and you start following the schedule I recommend in this post about getting past 2000 followers, you will find that it seems to be a little time consuming with finding twitter users to follow, opening up different pages, tabs, so on and so forth. So today I am gonna share with you my “secret” weapon for accomplishing this much faster. I am able to follow around 1000 people new people per day in under 10 minutes using this little tool.

This free tool is called “session manager” and is for firefox. Download session manager here.  Once you have it downloaded and installed in Firefox, follow the steps below to set it up to follow more people faster than normal. This technique is a manual technique, not automatic, that is why it takes about 10 minutes to accomplish.

Step 1: You will need a list of twitter users that share a common niche with you. For example, I closely follow Copyblogger, Problogger, ChrisBrogan, DevonBrown and Mashable. All of those people are involved in blogging, home business success and social media. So it’s safe to say that the people that follow them would be interested in what I tweet and blog about also. So your first task is to go find at least 10 people but the more the better, that have a twitter account and are in your niche. One really simple way to do this is to go to Amazon.com and look for books in your niche, fine the authors on Twitter and bam you have your list.

Step 2: Now you want to open each person’s twitter account in a different tab, using firefox. I will usually stick to opening around 10 tabs at a time, per session. Once you have all of their twitter profiles loaded, you will want to go through all of them and click on “followers”. Once you are done with this step, you should have 10 tabs open from 10 different twitter accounts from people in your niche, and all tabs should be displaying the last 20 people who followed each of these twitter users.

Step 3: Once you have your ten tabs, each with a different users twitter account loaded with their first page of followers. You want to click tools at the top of the page, scroll down to session manager, then click “save session”. Here you will be given the opportunity to name your session what ever you want.

That’s it for setting up your session. You can set up as many sessions as you like. When you are ready to start adding followers, follow these steps:

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click Tools
  3. Scroll to Session Manager
  4. In the pop out menu scroll down to the session you wish to load
  5. Now simply follow everyone on the first tab, second tab, simply continue until you have followed everyone that is on the first page of followers in each tab.

That’s it, sounds simple enough, right? Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment. If you think a video tutorial would be better rather than reading it through a post let me know, and I will add a video to this post.

hootsuite_logoOnce you start using Twitter you will find that it becomes very easy to loose track of time. When I first started using Twitter, I would sit down and log in, and before I knew it, I had spent over 2 hours reading and responding to tweets. Well my wife and kids got a little upset that I was spending so much time on the computer, without really accomplishing anything, other than reading.

So that got me looking for some tools that would allow me to better manage my time spent on Twitter. After much research, trial and testing, I finally found a tool that allows me to do a number of things that really cuts down the time I spend on Twitter.

That tool is Hootsuite. Here is what Hootsuite has to offer:

  • Stat Tracking – Using ow.ly links from Hootsuite, they will track the number of clicks to your links
  • Twitter Lists – You can import your twitter lists
  • You can manage multiple Twitter accounts
  • Schedule tweets – A huge time saver
  • You can embed your columns on your sites – very cool feature
  • Monitor Your Brand
  • You can connect to your other networks like Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Take it mobile on your iPhone

There is a lot of stuff that Hootsuite does, and you may or may not need all the features. I do not use all the features, but I do partake in most of them. Here is exactly how I have my Hootsuite dashboard set up, so that I don’t spend a ton of time sending, reading and replying to Tweets.

I have my dashboard set up to display 4 columns.

  1. My first column is my Twitter feed, all the tweets that I have personally sent.
  2. Second column are all the tweets that mention me (@scott_hughes691)
  3. Third column is any pending tweets, these would be tweets that I have scheduled to tweet sometime later the same day.
  4. My fourth column is a list of Twitter users I follow closely. Some are people while others are blogs. These will be those twitter accounts that I find most interesting and will retweet the most from.

Mine is set up so that I am the most efficient on Twitter. I can log in, schedule a few tweets, respond to any @replies I need too, and see what my favorite Twitter users are up to. Doing all this from one screen is really helpful and time saving. I hope this helps you manage your Twitter time a little easier. Oh I should probably mention Hootsuite is a free tool, no need to pay for anything.

Leave me a comment and tell me what you think of Hootsuite or if you have used a different tool for managing your time on Twitter.

who_to_followIf you want to be successful on twitter then a good idea would be to follow and mimic those who are already successful. This holds true no matter what you choose to be successful at. I want to a successful twitterer as well as a successful blogger, so there is a certain group of people I follow for advice and tips on bettering my skills at both of these venues.

What I want you to do today if you do not have a list of people you follow, is to go out and find those that are successful in your niche and create a twitter list. Real quick, a twitter list is simply a list that you or someone else has created to closely follow those that are on the list. Twitter created this feature do to the fact that people are now following more than 200 people to better their marketing approach on twitter. You can see a video I made that shows you how to create a twitter list. If you need instructions on creating a twitter list, here is a post that does just that. It is a step by step guide to creating your twitter list – How to Create a Twitter List.

So now that you know how to create a twitter list, I am going to show you how to find those experts in your niche that you need to add to your list, follow closely and mimic what they are doing.

One of the best sites to use to find experts in your niche is Twellow.com, there you can type in search terms and twellow will search through all the twitter profiles and locate anyone that has your search terms within their profile. Once you conduct a search you can visit anybodies twitter profile and choose to follow them or add them to you new niche list. Before you decide you want to read some of their previous tweets and click on some of their links to see if they are someone that adds value to your niche.

Another way of finding people talking about your niche, and possibly find experts is to use the twitter search box on your twitter homepage. That will return a list of people currently tweeting about your search terms. Make sure to research anyone before you decide to add them to your niche list.

One last way of finding experts in your niche is to visit Amazon.com. Go search for your niche topic on amazon. Chances are there are a few books on your topic. The people that have authored these books have great potential for being experts in your niche. Once you have a list of authors simply go to Google and search for them. You could do a search like “Scott Hughes site:twitter.com”, that would tell you immediately whether they have a twitter account or not.

So now it’s time to build your list. Use the above instructions and start building your list today. If you have other suggestions about finding experts in your niche to add to a twitter list leave them in the comments section below.

twitter_listI have created a short tutorial that shows you in fairly good detail how to create your own twitter list. Twitter created this feature to help you track tweets from a specific group of people that you choose to follow. When you create these lists you assign a name to them so you know what to expect when you open the list. For example you might name a list travel, finance, technology, twitter tips. Whatever the people in the list specialize in would be a good name to name the twitter list.

Start by logging in to your twitter account. On the right side bar below the search bar you will see the list section. Click the arrow to drop down the list menu. Now click “new list”

click_new_list

Next you will be presented with the “New list creation menu”. Simply type in the name you wish to name your list, and you have the option to give it a short description if you would like. You also have the option to publicize your list or keep it private. That part is completely up to you, I always leave mine public.

new_list_creation_box

I have chosen to name my new list “bloggers” with a description of “successful bloggers”. Next you are presented with a search box so that you can search and find people to add to your list. Once you click search, twitter gives you a list of twitter users with that term in their name.

list_search_boxOnce you are presented with a list of people that match your search, you will need to decide which one is the actual one that you were looking for. Now click the list icon, and choose which list you want to add this person too.

add_to_list

Now do another search and continue to add as many twitter users you want, to your new twitter list. Once you have everyone that you want you simply go back to your home page and click on the appropriate list from the list menu to view the most recent tweets from everyone on that list.

Thats it, not to hard right? If you have any questions or suggestions on creating a twitter list leave us a comment below so we can better help you.

How to Attract Followers on Twitter

attract_twitter_followersGetting more followers on Twitter is not hard at all, getting quality followers is a little more tricky. One easy tip I can offer is to find out who the experts or gurus are in your particular niche. Read some of these people content, once you ensure that they are good quality people and not spammers then you want to add them to your group of people you track on twitter.

The next thing you want to do is start following those people that are following the people you found. Chances are the people that follow them are decent people as well, and chances are they will also follow you back.

If you want to start attracting people instead of tracking them down. Then it is all in what you tweet and what you share. Again find people that are experts in your niche and see what they are tweeting. Start by retweeting the good content they are tweeting. Then go and hunt for information that they aren’t sharing but is still good information. Next you want to create some good content related to your niche and tweet it out a couple of times the day it’s published.

Don’t over do it. Don’t just retweet, and don’t just tweet your content. Find videos, pod casts and news released all related to your niche. Make sure when you tweet that you are tweeting in 120 characters or less, that way your followers can retweet this information. That too will get you noticed and get more people following you.

If you can find legendary quotes, funny jokes and open ended questions, you will start getting attention on twitter. Do not tweet about politics or religion, unless that is your niche. Both of these topics will stick people the wrong way and get them to unfollow you and possibly block you from following them. Tweeting open ended questions and responding to people that answer them will show that you are real and willing to communicate with people.

Most importantly stay within your niche, don’t stray too far away from it. Tweet several times per day, no less than 10 times, always reply to anyone mentioning you, thank people for retweeting your stuff. Do this and you will see your follower count grow. These people that choose to follow you will be fairly active people, and you can expect to see your stuff retweeted several times.

Do you have any other suggestions for attracting quality followers on twitter? If so leave a comment below and share your tip.

Getting Twitter Traffic to Your Articles

ezine_logoTwitter is such a great tool for generating traffic to your website, but also to any articles you write. The easiest way to generate some traffic from twitter to your article is as simple as tweeting the title of your article and include a shortened URL.

Another very easy way to get some traffic to your article using Twitter is to use a quote from your article. Simply pick a quote from your article and add the shortened URL to the tweet and send it out. Don’t do what some people are doing to generate traffic using twitter to their articles, and that is to post their article on twitter one line at a time, until they have published their entire article one tweet at a time. That is wrong in so many ways.

If you are wanting to promote a new article follow this formula:

  1. 10:30 am Tweet the Title and shortened URL
  2. 3:30 pm Tweet Quote and shortened URL
  3. 6:30 pm Tweet Different Quote and shortened URL
  4. 8:30 pm Tweet the Title again with the shortened URL

As long as you have some valuable and informative tweets between your promotional tweets, you will get plenty of clicks. You can also continue to tweet about this article a few days after it’s published. The only difference would be you only tweet it once a day. You can follow this same formula for blog posts as well. If you publish a lot of articles or posts, you may only want to promote the day of publishing the day after.

Have you used this technique in the past? If so post your results in the comment section below.
